Additional Curricular Offerings for Grades TK-6
Students in grades K-6 receive music instruction once a week. The music curriculum is aligned with the California Visual and Performing Arts Framework standards. Classroom activities include opportunities to sing, play instruments, move to music, read and notate, listen and analyze, as well creating and performing. Additionally the Children’s Choir is open to all students in grades 3 through 5. Students attend rehearsals, participate in Sunday Masses and perform at events such as the American Federation Pueri Cantores Treble Choir Festivals. The Federation Pueri Cantores is the Vatican based official student choral organization of the Catholic Church.
Students in grades TK-3 use the school computer lab at least once a week. They work on keyboarding skills, phonics and math programs as well as doing research. Additionally teachers in grades 2-3 have Chromebooks available for classroom use with students..
Students in grades K-6 receive weekly instruction in art. Students in grades 3 and 5 participate in residencies offered provided by the ArtsConnect program, an educational program within the Orange County Performing Arts Center.
After-school classes provide theatrical training, both onstage and behind the scenes, for students in grades 5-8. Fall and Spring Productions offer students the opportunity to perform for live audiences.
The Spanish language is taught to students in grades TK-6 using group interaction and variety of language activities. The lessons include pronunciation, intonation, and basic grammatical structures. The goal is an appreciation of the Spanish language, culture, and basic conversational skills
Physical Education & Sports Offerings
Students participate in physical education class twice per week. Physical fitness and teamwork are focal points of the instruction. Competitive afterschool team sports are available to students in grades 5-8. Sports include: football, basketball and volleyball for boys and volleyball, basketball and softball for girls.
